Since the start of school, rumors about a new fence being put up along the walkway for students have been circulating. To put the rumors to rest The Cutting Edge spoke with Don Norris (head custodian). "It's a long process that we have to do," said Mr. Norris. "We have to get a minimum of three bids, after we get them the school board needs to approve one. At this point we are waiting to hear from the contractor (Million Dollar Road and Fencing Inc.), but we hope it will be done before Thanksgiving, for the safety of the students and staff." To receive further information about the cost of this project The Cutting Edge contacted Mr. Bronson Stone (superintendent). "The total cost for the fence project is going to be around six thousand dollars," he told us.

Ever since April of 1999, when the Columbine school shooting occurred, schools have been becoming strict on protection of students and staff. The fence is said to run the length of the walkway in the back of the school and it will be unlocked from inside incase of an emergency, such as a fire drill. You will not be able to access entrance from outside the fence. As Thanksgiving breaks creeps closer, perhaps students and staff can look forward to the leisure of walking outside upon the return from Thanksgiving break safely.
